At approximately 12:15 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 20, Round Rock Police Department officers responded to a report of a domestic disturbance at a residence in the 3000-block of Bradford Park Drive.
The caller reported the disturbance was physical and there was a 1-year-old baby in the residence. Upon officers’ arrival, they discovered the female caller and the child were able to exit the residence to safety. Officers determined the offense committed was a Class C Misdemeanor and began to leave the area since all potential victims were safe and out of the residence.
As officers were withdrawing from the area, a shot was fired from the residence.
As officers reapproached the residence due to the gunshot, the suspect exited the back porch, pointed his weapon, fired a shot, and an officer fired a single shot. The male was later determined to be deceased.
The decedent is a 65-year-old white male. No officers were injured during this incident.
One Round Rock Police Sergeant discharged their weapon and will be placed on administrative leave, per department policy.
“Our thoughts are with all involved in this incident. Any loss of life is tragic,” said Assistant Chief Justin Carmichael.
The RRPD investigation into the disturbance is ongoing. The Texas Rangers and the Williamson County District Attorney will be assisting in this investigation.
