Round Rock man is charged with capital murder of his 3-month-old daughter

A Round Rock man, Malik Williams age 22, is charged with capital murder of his 3-month-old daughter, Roselynn Williams. Capital murder of a person under 10 years old is a first-degree felony punishable by the death sentence or life in prison.

Williams is accused of hitting the three-month-old child’s head against the bassinet on the day she died, squeezed her abdomen and squeezed her neck for two to three minutes.

The three-month-old, who was taken to the St. David’s North Austin Medical Center, was pronounced dead at the Medical Center.

An emergency room physician told the officer on the scene that the baby’s injuries included multiple healing fractures to the chest and skull, in addition to several abdominal cavity/bowel abnormalities. The doctor who later performed the autopsy told police there was evidence of non-accidental trauma on the baby’s body

Round Rock police were informed Saturday morning that paramedics had tried to resuscitate an infant in the 500 block of Buckboard Boulevard in Round Rock.

Williams first told police he had given his daughter a bath and the baby had rolled off the bed after he had left the room. When he returned he found her on the floor and she was not breathing so he attempted CPR and his father called 911. Police said Williams changed his story, admitting he had squeezed the girl too hard and was too rough with her because he was frustrated.

Police said Williams stated he had accidentally hit the baby’s head on the side of the bassinet on the day the baby died and in the past. He also told police he had squeezed the baby too hard in the past

The Police had Williams re-enacted what happened with a doll. His actions did not match the stories gave police earlier and were inconsistent with the previous story.

Williams then said in a later interview at the Police Department that he had intentionally hit the baby’s head against the bassinet on the day she died and squeezed her abdomen. The affidavit said he told police he had squeezed her neck for two to three minutes and “that in doing so, he knew that she would die.”

Williams is charged with capital murder of a person under 10 years old.
