Many calls coming in to Emergency Services about a “GAS SMELL”

CUN.NEWS has been monitoring local social media and Emergency Services regarding multiple reports of a “gas smell” in Round Rock and Austin area. The smell has been reported over a widespread area. At 11:40 am Austin Fire Department issued a statement on Twitter about the smell. Hydrogen sulfide (H2S) is a colorless, flammable, hazardous gas with a “rotten egg” smell. It occurs naturally in crude petroleum, and natural gas. Hydrogen sulfide is heavier than air and may travel long distances along the ground.
